I fully realize that I tend to "like" more books than most people! Perhaps I'm just easy to please! lol I did feel as if I had a much clearer understanding of a woman's life in these times overall, and that's kinda the main thing I look for in historical fiction. I'...Lynn, I thought I commented on your review. I'm so sorry! I agree that Catherine's infatuation was really poor judgment on her part. I think that historically, it's about the only thing she showed poor judgment about. I wasn't as fond of this book as you were, though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883575980086212146.post-78387771889077940402015-02-14T15:47:42.833-06:002015-02-14T15:47:42.833-06:00Hi, Elizabeth! I find it quite interesting that the only wife to have survived Henry has the least published about her. I guess the others make for more dramatic fair... I hope you, too, enjoy it!Lynn @ Smoke & Mirrorshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00464153596817995684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883575980086212146.post-8583026794761473442015-02-14T12:07:21.771-06:002015-02-14T12:07:21.771-06:00I always felt like Catherine Parr has been neglect...I always felt like Catherine Parr has been neglected by history, probably because she's the only one who survived Henry. I read the book about her by Philippa Gregory, but im putting this one TBR. You make it seem great!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02582583925813368098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883575980086212146.post-12446777600091502772015-02-10T13:06:19.970-06:002015-02-10T13:06:19.970-06:00Thanks for stopping by, Naomi! When reading historical "fiction" I guess I'm looking more for the mood and essence, 'cause I can never be sure exactly where "poetic license" may have been taken and what are actual facts. Anxious for the next one, The Bishop's Wife in April!Lynn @ Smoke & Mirrorshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00464153596817995684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883575980086212146.post-6626179733035626702015-02-09T10:42:02.066-06:002015-02-09T10:42:02.066-06:00I'm glad you mentioned Anne in your post, as h...I'm glad you mentioned Anne in your post, as her case of being a wife was one of the most interesting ones. A good example of what might happen if you left your husband. She was lucky to have run into Catherine again right when she needed help. I don't know why I didn't think to include her in mine- I guess I just had Catherine in my head. Nice, thorough review, Lynn. And, I'm so glad you liked it!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01148858271711006048noreply@blogger.com
